The 706 hydraulics are an integral part of the transmission. The dip stick is on the operator deck next to the break pedals. The transmission fluid (Case/IH HyTran)operates the power steering and PTO in addition to the remotes. The hyd. filter is located in the "bubble" cover on the side (left side, I think, without having it in front of me) below the operators deck toward the bottom of the transmission and usually needs changing in used tractors.
