yes, there are manuals available and I highly suggest getting one. Invaluable source for the info you are going to need. They have them on this site. Engine can certainly be rebuilt "in frame". But if crank needs to be turned it'll have to come off the tractor. I started to do an in frame overhaul,but ended up removing engine and had it boiled and sleeves replaced at machine shop. I also had to have crank gound .020/.010 In my opinion the job will get done more completely with engine removed but thats your call. They sell overhaul kits on this site also. I got mine from Walt's tractor parts and was very satisfied. Excellent service too. There are maney sites selling parts. Need to shop around. Good Luck,Be Safe and above all have fun!
