Answer to 1-yes,you can shift on the fly.You also need to keep it adjusted right or you will have problems shifting.Answer to 2-I have an engine manual for mine and I'm pretty sure there are some differences in the head and/or pistons.If no one responds differently,I can look it up for you.Answer to 3-The hydraulic filter is on the right hand side of the tractor(as you sit on it)transmission under an oval shaped cover.You do not need to remove the pump to service the filter.It is right under the cover.I hope I was able to help you.Feel free to e-mail if you have any more questions.
