I'm with Bill Lake on this one. When I was a young man we had exactly that setup on our farm, a H Farmall pulling a 14T John Deere baler. The tractor did just fine, baled almost all the time in third gear, only used second on the steepest hills, and pulled a wagon which we loaded to about 125 bales per load. The baler, on the other hand, was another matter. We had no end of knotter problems with it and nothing the JD mechanic did ever seemed to make a difference. After some seasons of frustration we sold it. Lots of folks seem happy with JD balers but I will always be inclined to another brand as a result of my experience.
