battery terminals

On a 1948 Farmall CUB 6 volt ... does the negative terminal go to the starter? and the positive terminal to the ground? On a 1975 International CUB 12 volt ... does the positive go the starter? and the negative to the ground? Thank you everybody for your previous responses.
