Yep, the 544 is basically a 656 with 2 cylinders missing. But the 544 doesn't have sleeves, bores are direct in the block. And they are cold-blooded as stated before, even in the summer time. Also they can be finicky on the carb adjustment and vacuum leaks. I like ours, it is a good size, good fuel economy, good power, and just keeps running. I do feel it makes more noise than necessary for the horsepower though - dunno why. Steven
