The "pink" is added because you pay no road & hiway taxes on it. If you get caught with that in your fuel tank on your car or truck on a public road the fine is quite hefty. ($10,000.00 in some states!) I've only seen the Dept of Transportation do it once. They were testing commercial vehicles in the state of Texas between Houston and Dallas about six or seven years ago.
