The date codes refer to the casting of a particular part. Castings were often aged or stored before maching. THe machined parts were often shipped or stored between machining and manufacture of a tractor, so you can be several months off between date of manufacture and date of castings. Many of the dates of casting will disagree with each either. Years were usually assigned a letter code, although some were open dated.
