probally one of two thing, either and adapter was used of some one messed the old 18 up and did a good job of making it a 14 by filling and retaping the holes. However I am not sure that a 51 model did not have 18 mm holes???? you really got me but like you I think they were 14's.

BTW until I had to repair some spark plug holes this year I did not know all spark plugs were milimeter sized !!!!!!!
