Well John, you've got me wondering if I've lost my mind, or cant remember exactly what I did. It's been a while. (Im not old enough to start having "senior moments"). I do know that my distributor was installed offset so that #1 wasnt where it was suppose to be, which explains why my cousin couldnt get it to crank. (he thought it had a burnt valve when he sold it to me) I removed the distributor, rebuilt it, and reinstalled it so that #1 was near the 2:00 oclock position, as shown in the manual. I remember that nothing was pointing in the right direction until I removed and repositioned it. I'll go back and look at it all over again and give you an update. Maybe it was the gear that the slot on the distributor shaft fits into. I'll take pictures and use the new "Parts & pieces" gallery.
