Yep, got them 12.4x38's mounted up. They are pretty good tires! Some weather checking, but good tread, and hey, they were free! Cost me about $100 for 2 new tubes and mounting, also had one rim welded up where it was rusted through. Got a slight problem though... Only 80 pounds of compression, and webers shows 95 lbs for the distillate. I think I should have more with the step head pistons, but oh well it mows and rakes really good. Just doesn't have enough power to spin out or raise the front wheels off the ground when cultivating. Working on getting the pieces together to add power steering so it will be easier to use around the yard in tight spaces. Also, it steers a little tough with that mounted mower hanging on it. Might even go all out with distributor drive live hydralics by springtime! Oh yeah, had 37.2 hours on it last weekend and Dad was planning on using it for grinding feed this week. Getting colder here, going to change the oil this weekend to 15w-40 Rotella for the winter, probably keep that in it too. Wish it could rain, our cows are getting really hungry, Dad started feeding a bale a day a week ago already. Pasture is nothing but dirt, the wheat they grazed didn't last either. School is going good, figure I should finish in Spring of '04. Then I don't know where I'll end up, hopefully somewhere with old tractors sitting in the trees! Steven

What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
