I have an "A" , the noise bothered me too. the guys around here say that the noise is ok as long as the gear oil is at the proper level. There is a inspection plug in the trany housing under the seat just behind the serial number placard. this plug however is often twisted off. if this is the case, use a flash light to look down the fill plug hole , oil should be visible just below the shifter rails. wile your at it check the final drive case both sides, this plug is located on the inside next to the draw bar attachment bolts, remove plug ,I use a 1/2 inch drive( no socket) oil should be level with the hole. good luck !
