The solonoid is the fuel shut off. It shuts down the main jet when you turn the tractor off. If it is not working, or you are losing power to it when the tractor is on, it will starve the tractor for fuel. You should check to see if you have power to it, and if it does have power, can you hear it "click" when you apply power and then release it??
