You're describing what we refer to as Series I and Series II tractors. The parts book gives serial number breaks for the Louisville and Farmall Works tractors when the change took place. Series I was battery under tank, belly pump hyds; Series II have battery under seat and live hyds. If you have a mix, it's either aftermarket, a late tractor special ordered without the pump, or a farmer update. Mine is the later example, a series I Louisville that I added the series II parts to (I have the live pump/reservoir/battery under seat, and the belly pump still installed). Stan(VA).
