The later Cubs you mentioned will have a bit more power- noticeable if you drove both the older and the newer on the same day. But finding the newer is a problem since sales volume declined sharply after about 1953. Maybe Winter would be over before the newer Cub is located. The 49 model you found should hold it's value. Buy it now, add the chains and rear weights and use it as soon as the snow flies.
