I had something similar happen to me on my H when I was mowing hay. I hit a bump and broke the main shaft which runs from below the radiator up through the casting to the half moon gear which the worm gear turns. E-mail me direct and let me know if this is the case. I am very curious. Be careful. It could fall out if you lift the front of the H too high. My front shaft was broken just as it goes into the lower part of the front casting.
