I don't think you would have any trouble modifying a bracket from a bigger tractor, making your own mounting bracket, or finding someone to make it for you, to get suitcase-style weights to fit. Pretty sure that a bracket from a bigger tractor wouldn't fit without some modification, as those bolted into the front of the bolster, while the 404 has mounting holes on the sides of the bolster, like the Farmall C. Anyway, the 404 front-end weights I've seen are of a three-piece type, with one piece bolted to each side of the bolster, and one piece across the front, bolted into the two side pieces. These appear to be a special item for the 240 and 404, IH built very few of these tractors and probably even fewer weights. Never seen suitcase weights on a Farmall C-404.
