John, if the crack is a horizontal crack on the left side behind the carburetor, that is pretty common for that engine, and in most cases isn't a big problem. You can "vee" it out with a grinder and seal it up with JB Weld or you could put a fiberglass patch over it on the outside. With mine, it didn't leak until I cleaned it up, flushed the cooling system and put in clean new coolant. I didn't bother with sealing it, and it leaked a little bit all summer, then I let it sit over winter and the crack has sealed itself again.
