M wiring snafu

Have a '48 M with alternator conversion (by previous owner)/original light switch with chg-dim-bright/2 pole ign switch/SW 12v. ammeter/ballast resister/6 volt coil/new delco remy alt. with "Batt" terminal and 2pole plug labeled F1 and R1. When I installed a new battery it all worked fine except ammeter would not register any charge(even tho it shows discharge when lights are on with tractor running or not). Now the battery is dead. I need help getting wiring connected correctly for light switch/ammeter/2 pole ign switch/alternator, etc. All help would be appreciated. Had a little hair to start with, now there's none! Wife threatening to send service manual back and order toupe' as service manual doesn't show schematic for alt hook up.
