I have been involved with Lake Region Pioneer Threshermen, Dalton, Minnesota for 15+ years; the show is going to be 50 years old this coming fall!! Suggestions: 1. Be sure to involve a large enough group of people (ladies, too!!) so no one person is stuck with doing most of the work. Be sure to have things for ALL members of a family to enjoy; from very young to the very old. 2. Designate a person to be in charge of each of the various areas, events, functions that you are planning to have at your show. 3. Advertise, advertise, advertise!! We use the internet, local & area newspapers, local & area radio stations. Tried TV but was VERY expensive$$$ 4. I have a 5-7 minute tractor-threshing trivia radio show worked out with our farm radio announcer that we do every other Friday from Jan-Sept. We give away show passes to the lucky call-in winner. This gets a lot of talk around the community and livens up the early morning for young & old alike. 5. Do you have a cable TV franchise in your town? There should be one channel designated for community-public usage; This is FREE and a lot of folks are watching what goes on in their community. They gave me the use of a camera this year and are helping produce a video to show on their channel AND so we can sell it as a threshing show promotion. Let me know if I can assist you.
