I'm looking at buying a 424 w/loader. Starts & sounds good, doesn't smoke. Shows only 1700 hrs. on the meter, but no way of knowing if it is the original tach/hr. meter One thing concerns me, the oil light continues to flash several minutes after it is started until the throttle is opened to 1200 rpm's. Keep it revved up & oil light stays out, idle it back down & oil light starts flashing. As I said motor sounds tight, doesn't knock, lots of power. I concerned that I could be looking at worn crank or bearings. If I were able to put a pressure gage on it what should the normal oil pressure be? Is there anything else hooked to the oil light besides the engine oil pressure? I seem to remember that on larger IH's it also monitored trans. oil pressure. Are there any problem areas w/ the 424 that I should be aware of? Parts availability?
