As I recall the discussion was gas versus diesel. I have never seen much less owned a 6 cylinder Farmall gasser. Farmall 300 was bad enough for me at 3 Canadian gallons per hour on 9 ft. New Holland 460 haybine. 656D ran that same haybine on 1 Canadian gallon per hour. Here in Canada we have for the last half century paid 30 to 40 percent more for our fuel in common dollars than you in the US. We damn well knew every gallon of fuel that went into every tractor. There is no mystrey why I have never seen a 6 cylinder gasser, and you sir I believe are rather conservative on your estimates. Further a 766 diesel was not a under powered tractor. They all came to our area with 18.4x38 tires. Dealer let me try one which I hitched to my 5 x 16 semi-mount plow. At 8-10 inches deep 766 plowed just as fast as 1066 which was all the speed plow wanted.
