I'm going to say that running 3/4 throttle with a 15 foot mower, it'll burn around 5 gallons/hr. Depending on how much mowing you'll be doing, what other kind of work you'll be doing, and what kind of a deal you're getting on the tractor, you might just be able to live with with the gas burner. We have a 706 Gas that is used for a lot of light work, it is thirsty, but it is just great to have around during the winter. For now, I would tell you to look a little harder for a diesel (mabey somthing with a 310 or 358 German Diesel- Late 706, 756, 826 Gear Drive, 786, 886, 3088, or 3288- exellent fuel economy and in the horsepower range you want) but keep the 766 Gas in mind, they are not a bad tractor, just thirsty.
