Yesterday I took the 706G loader tractor and the 340G with the spreader to the cattle lot. Had just gotten the 340 running so wasn't sure how it would perform. Found out that under a load it for sure needed a tune-up. Back to the shop for a full electrical tune up, points, condenser, cap, rotor, wires, plugs. Had already cleaned the carb and fuel system earlier. After trip to town for the parts and the installation of them the day was shot. Started over again today. Had pilled the assetts yesterday so was ready to go. Loaded up the first load and headed to the pasture. Little 340 was really running smooth. Put the PTO in gear and the 340 didn't hardly pull down, spreader was doing it's thing and everything was going good. At 4:00 all of the assetts had been redistributed (MANURE WAS SPREAD). Both FARMAllS had preformed great and a not so fun job was behind me. Just one complaint. The person that designed the 340 must have had 5' long legs. Mounting the 340 was a real chore for this 67 year old man who is 50 lbs over weight and only has 30" long legs. If the 340 is to stay around I will have to build an add on step for it.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
