That tractor should have two gas caps on tank. The front cap is for distillate fuel and the rear for gas. The tractor was originally started on gas untill engine and radiator where warmed up. Then tractor could then be switched over to distillate fuel (a cheaper fuel of the time). Shut down of tractor required a switch over back to gas becuase tractor would not start ounce cooled down when shut off burning distillate. When burning distillate you generally shut some air flow off to radiator so tractor would run warmer and there was something on the manifold to adjust. This tractor can be run just fine on gas. Just make sure the radiator is not restricted of air (becuase there is no need to run warmer when burning gas) and if that adjustment deal on manifold still works put it on the gas burning position (not sure just what position that would be). And you might want to start putting the gas in the bigger portion of tank and running off of that all the time becuase the original gas portion of tank isn't much more than a reserve tank (about 1 gallon or so).
