Let me further qualify what I said in earlier post, Your vendor said new engine had 3175 hours on it, and it appeared to be in good shape. Do you know the total hours on tractor? As I said earlier 56 series tractors now 30+ years. You have to start thinking about items like front end wear including power steering, transmission, hydraulics, clutch and TA, rear axle housings, wiring, pto, 3 point hitch, linkages and controlls, etc. If your vendor could assure those items are all excellent then tractor is probably worth $8,000. Ask him for a price with a guarentee on all those items plus engine. Just ask and get his reaction. The reason behind my thoughts being, that I started in early 1990's to restore my Farmalls SA and 130 I have the mechanical end just about complete. As you can see I don't put a whole lot of time into this. I have not needed to touch either engine. I have spent close to $5,000. on parts probably half of that went to each tractor. These parts were all mechanical not grills, hoods, etc. So you see what can go into a small tractor, will give you some idea what you could spend on that 756. SA will be peanuts at parts counter along side 756. Today I know my tractors are in excellent condition, and further I know I could put them in field along side any comparable tractor and they would be just as reliable as new ones. If I considered they were each worth $1,500. to begin with and considered my time, I couldn't sell them for 40% of what I have invested. Just two years ago was working 130 along side a 3-4 year old FordNH. Both tractors quit, I went and bought a new distributor drive and repaired in field. The other guy not having any way to diagnose, had tractor towed off to dealer. It came home with a $4,000. invoice. If you are absolutely sure those items I previously mentioned have been refurbished a used tractor is worth a lot of money. If you are planning to work 756 and could be guarenteed on those items it is probably worth more than $8,000.

The Cletrac General GG and the BF Avery A - A Bit of History - by Mike Ballash. This article is a summary of what I have gathered up from various sources on the Gletrac General GG and the B. F. Avery model A tractors. I am quite sure that most of it is accurate. The General GG was made by the Cleveland Tractor Company (Cletrac) of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
