Curt: The actual article that I read concerned the 350, Very likely if independant shops were doing this with the 350, IH would decide to get in on the act for the next model being the 460. If you also look ahead into mid 70's after some of the smaller Farmalls had been droped, IH did this very thing with a lot of the 574,674, 584, 684, etc. Probably that is the history of the Hi-utility in a nut shell. That name plate sounds quite convincing that IH did the actual model. I don't know about the speed item, one would naturally think that Utility and Farmall models had a different gear ratio. However in the case of the A and AV the same ratio was used for both. I found that one hard to believe as I believe the difference would be greater there than with 460. I have a SA and 130 I am positive are different ratio, however I am told not so by certain former IH parts men. On the 300 the Farmall and utility have the same axle carrier, I expect 460 would be the same, so the axle would fit.
