Dan, You may have a magneto problem. The magnet in the magneto could be breaking down with high engine temperature. This doesn't mean your engine is overheating, but rather the magnet has deteriorated over the years and when it gets hot it will malfunction. I experienced this problem on a combine some years ago. Allowing the engine to cool for 30 minutes or so and it would start and run fine for a short time, and then stall again. Installation of a different magneto prevented any further engine difficulties.
