F-20's have serial number on serial number plate, frame side rail, and also on the side of engine. These 3 numbers should all be the same. I have heard story's about parts getting mixed up at factory and thus the numbers didn't match up but I'm a little specticle that that happened. When I see numbers that don't match up I am pretty certain that the tractor has been pieced together over the years. Like 2 or 3 tractors put together as one. F-20 number plates are on backside of tool box and I am not real certain where the number plate should be on a regular but I would almost think the regular would be like the F-20 and have the 3 number locations as said above. If missing the number plate look at the frame rail number and see if you can find the same number on engine, if so then it would be safe to say that it is the serial number and the missing plate would of had the same number on it and thus that number would be serial number. Prefix letters may have not been stamped in frame and engine but the complete number would have been. I would be willing to bet that, it is the serial number.
