I know this has probably been discussed before but thought I would ask anyway. Am looking at a 1466 with 5500 hours on it. Overall appears in decent shape, needs paint. When I drove it the torque seemed to hold and brakes as well. 3 point worked but noticed the hytran was over the full mark. Also noticed when you idled the engine down the power steering went away. Talked to the last owner(2nd owner) and he filled me in on a couple things. When he owned it he had problems with the 3 point not raising. Talked to an IH mechanic and he said there is a small oring inside on the suction tube that could be leaking and drawing air. Told him he could either over fill it or remove the pto housing and replace the o-ring. After the owner overfilled the hytran the 3 point worked fine. I'm thinking I've heard of this issue before has anyone? Also the remote are not working well in that the owner tried to use it on a drill and it would not raise the drill very fast at the end rows when idling the engine down. Is that possibly connected with the loss of power steering and any ideas on the problem. The engine and PTO has been overhauled about 700 hours ago. Got the dealer down to $6500. Is that still too much? Also noticed the front end is very loose. Does IH make any kind of rebuild kit for the front ends? Any commnets as always are greatly appreciated.

12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
