Guys, thanks for your comments. I sure agree that it is hard to find good 6V batteries - Interstate has the 2E 6V batteries that fit the boxes on my 756 (but not 2E 12V) and I'm sure they are pretty good. Noticed the other day that my new charger doesn't even have a 6V setting - sign of the times I guess. I guess I'll make new battery boxes and covers to fit the 3E 12V batteries usually used in Deeres and use them. It was my suspicion (that Joel confirmed) that 2 12V wired parallel would outperform 2 6V run in series. Ace has a point about 1 battery going down and the other taking the load, but I believe she would still spin up pretty good and start unless 1 would draw the other down. I figured the easiest rewiring for the 12V would be to just run neg. from each battery to ground and pos. from each to the starter solenoid -ought to be easy, quick and I get new cables all around to boot. Havn't looked but I believe the stud on the solenoid is long enough to handle another 3/16 thick cable end. My 6V's are old and tired but will do the trick until I make up the new boxes.
