Not tractor-related, but this happened to me exactly 20 years ago today: Decided to go for a run before it got dark. (I'm a jogger and needed to get out of the house for a few minutes, as our 3rd child had been born and brought home only a couple days before.) Anyway as I was running along the grass shoulder of the road, a drunk coming the other way lost control of his pickup truck left the road. I was struck head-on a west coast mirror going about 50 mph. I suffered a broken right arm, crushed hand, several broken ribs, a broken shoulder and more lacerations than I care to recall. Fortunately the mirror just missed my head. Had to undergo surgery to reassemble my right hand, then a year of physical therapy. My hand will never be fully functional. But I consider myself lucky - the consequences could have been much worse...
