The correct way to tell is the small 4 screw plate on the throttle side of the pump, located beneth where the nozzle line connect to the pump. Remove this and rotate the engine until you see 2 lines line up. May have to have a flashlight to see them at first but one is stationary and the other rotates. When these line up then go to the flywheel or front pulley to I believe 15 degrees and look at the timing mark in front of the pump by the drive gears.
