Steven and Bama, Thanks for the responses. This will obviously save me considerable money and time. The oil pressure did run a bit on the low side (only about 1/3 of the gage) but there was considerable sludge in the engine when I took the head off. I was going to drop the pan and clean/check the pump suction line and screen. Should I replace the pump in your opinion? To answer Steven's question, the cylinder walls look fine, very little ridge on the top. I cleaned the pistons and they look good, there is a small amount of indentions on one side of them (pinging?) but not serious. Again, Thanks guys! Joe
