The vice grips idea works. Have to do that on the SMTA sometimes.

There are aftermarket throttles available that just use friction to hold it in place. It is like 2 discs that rub together and have a spring on them. I don't know how they work but was thinking of getting one to try. They are around $20.

I know M&W made a similiar friction throttle and I have heard those work better than the new ones.
