Would it be restoration?

Hey guys. I've had another outbreak of Farmall Fever. My neighbor and friend has two parked tractors that I'm interested in and may buy: an M and a 450. Now, to get things out of the way, the M ran about 6 or 7 years ago when it started having severe carb problems so they parked it nearly side by side to the 450, although the wall of a tobacco shed was between them. It is outside, still in good shape but I don't know internally. That's why that one would be called "restoration." The other one is the opposite. It is no longer remembered why it was parked, and it could be anything from bad distributor to a permanent park. It wasn't severe, but poor ol' Dave took enough of its crap and parked it. The rearend insn't original, the original is in the shed because it had a broken gear (or something), so it has the rear of a 450D. Now, I haven't been able to look at cast dates, but the engine is a 264, not 281. My original idea was to "restore" this tractor for working purposes and show, but how do I go about doing it? The engine doesn't match up with the tractor and it doesn't have the original rear end. Would it be more valuable to reinstall the original rear end? I forgot whether or not it had live hydraulics, so I'll check that next. Let me know of your opinions, guys, and ask me questions. I want to know if I would buy this tractor how much money and time to stick into it. Talk to you all later, and thank you. Tim Malin
