Personally, I think that he may have been pulling your leg. The only thing that I can think of that would be close to an "L" would be a stationary engine. You may want to ask him if they made a Super L as well. If he says they did, I think that you should have your answer then. If not, check with your local old farmer. I'm sure those old farmers would know all about it if there is such a tractor.
