The 300 six is a very tough industrial engine and would make a great tractor engine. I dont think Ford makes it any more, what a shame. It is one of the few gasoline engines tough enough for drill rig service. Most of the major auger/core drill rig makers (CME, Acker, Mobile, Diedrich, etc.)used it. Bombardier used it in their soft-track tractors. Sterling, the biggest name in fence and foundation post hole diggers, used it as well. In the above applications, these engines take a real beating. In 20 years of service in a drilling company that used(and abused) these engines, I have never seen one fail. In a pickup, it is about 150 HP, but in industrial trim, it is rated at about 120 brake horse power. If someone can put a small block Chevy V-8 into a David Brown Selectamatic 990 as I have seen done, I am sure the 300 six can be made to feel comfortable in a 560. Just my $0.02, excuse the long post, and good luck.

How can I explain the sensation and exhilaration I feel when I turn the key and hear the engine come to life (most
