I'm guessing he has at least two hydraulic control valves on it. If so, and if he has valves mounted on the forward ports (near the forward end of reservoir), he needs to feed the forward valve(s) with pressure from the rear set of valves and block off the pressure port at the reservoir. There is a plug specifically for this, it's a little non-threaded plug with an o-ring. IH part number is 364 880 R1. Since the P/S was added on, the fellow that did it probably didn't know about this and after he tore his hair out, he gave up and sold it. He will also need to make sure he has the flow control (priority) valve in his safety/regulator valve, too, to make it all work right. The IH part number for that valve is 364 841 R95. If he has a parts manual, have him look at pages 282 thru 287, the illustration on P. 282 shows the hookup. In addition, to feed the pressure to the front valves, he's going to have to modify his control valve end plates to feed pressure from the back to the front valves and supply a section of hose. That isn't shown in any of the illustrations, can't figure out why.
