Nobody else has answered the timing question yet so I'll take a stab at it. First I am assuming that the timing gears in the front cover have allready been timed. If not you will need to align the timing marks on the crank and the cam, then align the marks on the cam and the spacer block. Roll the engine to tdc of compression stoke on number 1 cylinder. before putting the distributor on roll it till the rotor is facing number one cylinder. What I always do next is look at the spacer block where the drive lug for the distributor goes in and pull the drive lug out of the distibutor and orient to about the same position and put it back in the distributor. You can now bolt the distributor to the spacer block turning the rotor very slightly if neccasary to alinge the drive lug on it to the spacer block drive slot. When it goes in flush and the bolts are started I may turn it slightly one way or the other to get the rotor back close again to number one and then I tighten the bolts. The fine tuning adjustments cane be made where the distributor mounts to its drive mechanism by simply loosening two bolts that hold it by its flange just enough that the distributor can be turned. I hope this helps or maybe I just confused the heck out of ya. Let me know if I missed anything guys or if you need to correct me for something said wrong. Have a good one.

If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
