Hi Steve, Not all of the Zenith carbs had the main jet adjustment screw- some had the "plug" you are referring to. Usually both types are shown in the rebuild instructions for the carb if you look carefully. It's not the first time that I've wondered how the "plugged" version works... I would assume that they are somehow "pre-set" to work at a specific load. I'm curious if you could just add a main jet adjustment needle to these type carbs- or if you would need to order a replacement jet (seat) as well. (In my experience, these are not available from Zenith anymore.) Keep us posted what you find out. Anything that lifts the "black magic" veil of mystery off of carburetors is welcome knowledge for me. (grin) -Schotte
