Farmall 450 hydraulic problem

My dad has a 1957 450D that is having problems with the hydraulic system. It works fine during warm weather, but when it gets cold, it appears to not pump oil (no power steering or lift of any sort). It looks like there are some seals that can be replaced in the hydraulic pump. Has anybody had this problem before, and if you did, how do you fix it? Thought we'd ask the question before starting to tear things apart. Thanks.
