I believe the belt was looped in an 8 config to help keep it in place on the pulleys. If you look at the picture you will notice that if we had the tractor located on the opposite end of the sawmill we wouldnt be able to load the logs on the carriage. If we looped the belt with the tractor in its present position the blade would turn in the wrong direction. We are in the process of rigging up a way of driving that large pulley off the pto of a larger tractor through the use of a car tire mounted on a shaft riding between two pillow blocks. The C is a little short on HP when you get into the larger logs.
