I was about 7 at the time when I first got to climb onto the seat of a Ford Jubalee and slowly advance the tractor and corn wagon the length of itself then stand on the clutch and the brake while Dad and my older brothers caught up the hand shucking of the corn. That's right---- "shucking by hand". I remember one of the wagon sides being two to three feet higher then the other side sort of a backboard to direct the thrown ears into the wagon. I had a job, just like Dad and the older brothers. I had to be a man.
