Head Gasket for early W-30

I ordered a new head gasket for my W-30 from a reputable dealer Gordon Rice. It matches the head gasket that had been put in it before but does not match well with the holes in the block and head – it has 3/8 inch holes for the 1-inch holes in the head and block. My W-30 is an early model, among the first 1,000 made, and the motor number matches the tag number. It has a water pump and thermostat so I am relatively certain it is a W-30. Could IHC have used a 10-20 block and head in this early W-30? Would a 10-20 head gasket work better?
