Any IH D179 diesel gurus out there? My 464 / D179 with 2500 hours runs good and has 55 psi oil pressure when cold. Problem is when warm (normal operating temp) the pressure drops to 10-15psi at 2000 rpm and near 0 psi at idle. Oil is clean 30W Delo so I can't really blame this on viscosity breakdown. Obviously low oil pressure is a bad thing, my question is should I try dropping the pan and replacing the oil pump, or is this likely to be worn bearings and a full overhaul is probably the ticket? I never see any metal particles in the oil when I change it. Any comments appreciated!
