Had the same trouble in repairing mine. Tried several little jigs but none worked. The book don't help much either. Paragraph 2 on page 23; "Set the pump cover in place on the pump body and install seven attaching cap screws." Just have to hold your mouth right and be patient. Getting over the weight is the biggest part of the battle let alone that tacky gasket. You'll know it when you got it stabbed in right.
