M Countershaft Gear Question

Finally got around to working on my M transmission. Putting it back, I noticed that the 3rd and 4th speed gears seem a little loose on the shaft and will slip slightly back from the constant mesh gear. 1st and 2nd gears will also move slightly on the shaft. The four gears will move enough to make about a 3/16 inch space between them and the constant mesh gear. Is this normal?
