I've read many of the Hy-tran wars about which is better. Hy-Tran is probably the best followed by the JD fluid. I believe the big thing that Hy-Tran has the additives and ability to absorb water and reduce rust. If your a farmer that has a variety of different tractors that share implements then you have a blend of all the oils used in all of your tractors. The red stuff one perosn talked about is most likely Dextron AFT fluid that is also widely used as transmission/hyd fluid. My dad used Dextron in everything because it was cheeper with out problem. I am planning on switching to Hy-Tran because it's now a hobby and the one tractor left isn't used daily.
