The worst thing is his insurance will probably cough up about $3000.00 total, after he fights them for a year! I have seen this several times. Tip - make a list with all your equipment models and serial numbers, along with fair market value, pictures wouldn't hurt, and put it somewhere like a safe deposit box. That way if the worse happens you will have a record of what you had. I am sorry about your friend's loss. Barns burn pretty quickly, I was first in on a large barn one day, a tractor had caught fire out front and spread to the front outer wall of the barn. My partner and I hit it but could do little. By the time backup arrived (maybe 5 minutes) the whole barn was fully involved and another 5 min. it was on the ground. Nice, hot fire. Of course the owner was a lawyer so he didn't have much trouble out of the insurance company :) Take care, check your smoke detector batteries in your home, Fireman
